Hello 2017!

As of December of last year, we're honored to announce that Project Sansar has selected Phillip D., of our studio, as one of its early content creators for its beta development! Phillip hopes to add to Sansar's features and functionalities for both the user experience and creator experience alike.

It is projected that this endeavor will preoccupy the entirety of 2017, and perhaps the first quarter of 2018. Currently, Phillip has begun exploring conversing, testing, and consulting with the early content creator group and Sansar staff.

At this very early stage-- a "Phase 1' if you will --plans are to examin Sansar's modeling methods, both externally and internally.

Naturally, phase 2 will deal with the next-gen textures and lighting effects.

Next, phase 3 will deal with early scripting and functionality. This will be the most comprehensive phase-- there will be a lot to absorb.

And lastly, phase 4 will deal with animation projects for both props and characters/avatars.

So far, Phillip mentions that he finds Sansar "marvelous [for a VR platform] and the sky's the limit!" We hope to share more as this story unfolds.

Updating Our Tools -- Part 1

We've recently upgraded our creation tools, namely on the computer end. We chose Alienware's Area 51 R2 model with topped out specs.

Our aim is to utilize the latest high-end equipment conducive to providing top-tier production systems for 3d asset creation (over the long term), to have optimum testing capabilities in high and low end scenarios, and to enable high performance in peak settings during gaming testing scenarios. The Area 51 will replace our previous Alienware Aurora and Dell workstations.

Updating our Tools -- Part 2

We're still in the process of updating our creation tools, and to address telecommuting needs, we went with the Alienware 15" laptop.

Our aim is to have a mobile device capable of demonstrating the full extent of workstation-produced content, but also to be able to modify said works on the go. This will help keep productivity highly efficient and also help in communicating various complex, heavy content with clients during face-to-face meetings.

Similar to the Alienware Area 51 R2, the form design is innovative and extremely functional. The laptop is quite tall in comparison to other laptops (roughly 1.36" height). This height creates more air space for the internal cooling (more air flow = smart!). Being slightly taller and cumbersome than most laptops, the blunt corners on the outside help with mobile storage - it's easier to get the bag zippers around these blunted corners. The materials feel very sturdy and has some grip for safety (is not sleek/slippery metal) - the keyboard area is rubber-coated (for grip) and the shell is made of a carbon-fiber mix (for added strength and weight reduction). Similar to the desktops, the AlienFX illumination is a nice aesthetic touch, but is also helpful when working in dimly places.

To this date, this model is performing well. It multitasks multiple applications effortlessly when developing 2D/3D content and web development/coding. The fans are also pleasantly quiet. One issue we find is that fan control is not available. To resolve this issue, HWiNFO64 is used to control fan speed when the computer undertakes heavy processing tasks. Other than that, the battery life is more than adequate, and its recharge time is fantastic - taking roughly hour to fully recharge.
